Remodel, Renovate, Build

Back to the web of semantics that are so important to full understanding of what we are about to do.

Remodel. This is when you change the cosmetic elements. You repaint, change the carpet, put in new tile, change the draperies, and, perhaps move a wall to open up a space in the dwelling. Refashioning a home in a fresh way; updating it. Improving on what is.

Renovate. This is bigger. Improving by taking what is to the next level. Imagine removing the majority of what is and replacing it with the latest. Thus modernizing. Gutting gives the opportunity to make more dramatic change. This might be just a room or it might be an entire structure.

To refurbish, to repair, and to restore are important to both remodeling and to renovating.

Build. This is starting from scratch. Here everything is new (even if it is recycled or repurposed). The canvas is blank in the beginning so the improvement can just be erected.

More detail for your consideration when planning your environment.
